As we grieve the departure of our most beloved father, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, we know we are not alone.
His prayers are still with us, and he himself will continue to watch over the church during these vulnerable moments, the church he served so faithfully as pope and shepherd during his days on earth.
Christ promised that he would not leave us orphans (John 14:18). So we feel safe knowing that the saints of God and God himself, “father to the fatherless and protector of widows,” (Psalm 68) will guard his Church until he chooses another father and patriarch to lead us.
It is that sense of Christ’s presence that we will continue to bring to all the fatherless children we work with in Egypt, by our love and our practical help, in honor of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III. May his prayers be ever with us.
